It poisons so much in our modern world, rendering people scared to make a sensible decision.
Nearly every old aircraft I fly in (and that's about a dozen) has a radium dial or 2. I couldn't care less -- unless I was 90 years old, and then I probably WOULD care even less.
We put WWII veterans in the cockpits every chance we get. Not the general public. But WWII veterans, yes. We'll often stop what we're doing, interupt the whole program of the day, delay maintenance operations -- whatever -- to hoist one of these rare and remarkable gentlemen into the cockpit.
As for a proper seat, I'd make a simple wooden box to sit on before I'd say "No".
That's how it works at Vintage Wings of Canada, anyway. Veterans matter more than policy.
