Guam and Peliliu aircraft wrecks

Hello Folks,
Maybe someone here can help me. I'm going to Guam and Peliliu, does anyone have LATITUDE and LONGITUDES of aircraft wrecks on either or both places? I don't need anything offshore. Thanks ahead of time.....Army

I know of the B-29 off the North End of Anderson.

check out pacificwrecks.com. They have a great database on Pacific aircraft wrecks. Hense the name.

I've looked at pacific wrecks, i was trying to get a little closer than just Andersen Field. Folks on here always surprise me with the info they have, Lats and Longs would help narrow the search.........thanks guys

yes it will, we are also going to Corregidor. My job is to try to do some of the legwork online before we get there. I look at Google earth and see that the object is right over there, seem any idiot could find it, until i get on the ground and can't see 5 foot in front of me...someone here might just have the lats and longs for every wreck on the planet. we have strange interests.....by some standards

That is certainly the truth!

There is K-32 off Pati Point, Guam and another one off of Northwest Field.

I'll poke around for you as long as you promise photos.

I have solid contacts at Andersen if you would like. Could most likely get you to some cool places.

FWIW, if you can acquire "After the Battle" Magazine No.78 nearly the entire issue (78 pages) is dedicated to Peleliu Island with "Then and Now" photos. Anguar Island has the fuselage remains of a B-24 and fairly well intact F4U (pg.21). The article does comment about the existance of a very deadly snake that inhabits the island...so use caution.

Will you be going to Yap (it's between Guam and Peleiu)? Although this is info is some years old I understand that some Japanese fighter aircraft still remained along the runway.

I was stationed in Guam with the Navy a few years ago. There is a Corsair that crashed on short final to the Orote Point (Naval Station) runway thats only about 400 meter walk into the jungle. It's got a well worn path, just ask any of the guys that have been on the island, it's pretty well known.

Also at Naval Station, there's a Japanese plane on floats inverted about 80' down. Still has guns in the wings, and about 150yds off shore in the harbor. It's near the Tokai Maru (sp) which was damaged and sunk in the battle for Guam.

As long as you're at Naval Station, make sure you stop by the museum, it's not Smithsonian quality, but it's got some of the best original Japanese and pacific Theater artififacts anywhere, many of which should probably be in national museums...but it is Guam after all. Hidden treasure though.

Lastly, there's also a ton of Japanese caves and "pill boxes" on Naval Station, a couple you can see from the Denny's on the water out the back gate on the beach.

I never visited Palau, but Tinian is worth the trip, as you can still stand in the pit they loaded the atomic bombs from. There's also a massive Japanese cave complex still accessible, and there used to be several aircraft wrecks still in the jungle.

Good day.

Just speaking of aircraft wrecks :

- No idea about Guam
- Peliliu : only known wreck on the island is of an A6M. You 'll find plenty of photos on the net. There are also large piles of aircraft scrap at the back of a village of which i have forgotten the name. Can research for it if you want.
- Angaur (5 miles to the south of Peliliu) is by far the more promising : a Corsair on the northern tip of the island and a graveyard containing the remains of several B-24 a few hundred meters to the south. Attention : there were talks to convert the whole island into a casino/resort "chinese style" a few years ago. If it actually took place, we can kiss goodbye to those wrecks.

On the island of Saipan (100 miles N of Guam) there is the crash site of a B-29 on the top of Mt. Tapochao. See attached link for details. It would make a good day trip as there are numerous flights to Saipan.

I dove on the Japanese float plane when I lived in Guam. But that was 12 years ago. Pretty cool going down to see it, though the visibility is pretty poor.
