Warner Scarab / R-420 Radial

What is the availability of one of these radials? At only 125 hp it seems a bit underpowered for the size.

I'm no expert but do know that the any of the Warner engines are very highly prized in the Classic and Antique community and are hard to come by. They have also been used in a number of WW1 replicas as well.

Not much (relative) horsepower true, but strapped to the front of a MONOCOUPE or other smaller airframes, it would be like running an injected big block in your daily driver RANGER pickup.

That's an early Warner. The later models such as the Super Scarab of 165 hp (R-500) are more common, but of course by modern standards that's still rare.

By coincidence, we were working on mine (a Warner R-550) yesterday...

I was hoping they would be available. They used the 420 in the Sikorsky R-4 Thought it would be a great addition to the Museum. Much like the expensive and rare 004 Jumo (was the basis of Avco/Lycomings turbine program) I'm guessing we will never pick one up.
