Junkers Jumo 004

Sun Sep 25, 2011 10:32 pm

This may be considered a silly question but where would I start looking to find a Junkers Jumo 004 engine to be displayed at our museum? Are these pretty much all spoken for? It seems that there is quite a bit of shared history between the designers of the Avco Lycoming T-53 & T-55 turbines and the their previous design, the Junkers Jumo 004.

"Is this a Junkers Jumo 004" Quite so Bill, nice shots! :D

Dr. Anselm Franz (who basically started Lycoming's turbine division) was the chief designer on the 004, LTC-1 (T-53), the T-55 was developed from the 53, but I am not sure how much Dr. Franz was involved. Anyone know that answer?
