Hello forum,
I'm looking for information about two Finnish Fokker D.21s wrecks found in Russia in 2007. The first, a Pratt & Whitney Twin Wasp Junior powered model, was found in Februari 2007 and a second one a few months later apparently. Obviously the location should be somewhere near the Finnish border. The wrecks were allegedly in good condition and there was even talk about making one airworthy, although I'm very sceptical about that. However I'm writing a book on the D.21 and it would be nice to have details about these aircraft.
Thanks for any info,
Peter

Well, I reckon you're at least one step ahead of most of us here, as this is the first I've heard of such a recovery and I trawl this board almost every day! That's absolutely fantastic news if true; can you reveal your source where you heard this info?
Good luck on the book and if you find anything new on the D.21s, **PLEASE** let us know!

Hello Lynn,
Well, there's some photographic evidence.
http://www.nederlandseluchtvaart.nl/forums/f13-fokker/fokker-d-21s-gevonden-rusland-18131I have no details whatsoever. The Dutch topic there merely discusses the fact that we'll probably know which airframe it is if the location is known, but is isn't.
How this happened in 2007 and is surfacing in 2011 I don't know either.
Regards,
Peter
