Some friends of mine are intending to build a WWI flyable replica and are looking for four inline engines in the 260-280 hp range that are relatively easy to come by and don't cost a fortune-any ideas?

ranger 440? they seem pretty easy to find and you can run them inverted with a few mods.

You would need something more than a Ranger L-440 as it's only a 200 hp max motor. They should settle first on what they want to fly and then select the appropriate powerplant. Best place to look I believe is at theaerodrome.com (?) for some ideas about what has been built and what works.
