ton of vintage photos

hi all,

Within the last month or two the Vintage Photo thread has been updated. Some of the older links have been broken but there is still a ton of photos on there. Most I have never seen before! It's worth a look!

Here is the link:

Thx,

Good move, Nathan, great post. Thanks!

Telegma? Where's that?? When obscure, or unknown, places like that show up on my WW2 scope, I often wonder how the guys who lived and fought from/in all those little known "there's" that get overshadowed by the European theatre must feel...kinda like the guys who flew B-24's who have to live with the iconic status of the B-17...

Anyhow, I really love the pics that turn up from time to time that were taken by individuals. Thanks again.

Love the factory shot of the C-76 and the AT-9 'Jeep'. I've read that the people who flew it (the AT-9) thought that the P-38 would have made a great trainer for the AT-9, not the other way around.

Years ago AIRPOWER did an article on the C-76 and what a logistical mess the entire project was, the author quoted someone involved in the building of them that he jokingly told a mechanic on the production line to 'not forget to install the bolts in that fitting' and the reply was' Why? I never put none in the last few' . The article also relayed that one test pilot landed with something sticking out of the wings leading edge, turned out to be a hawk they'd hit in flight and what they were looking at was the South end of a formerly North bound hawk.

Wasn't the P-40 series the last sucessful mass production undertaking by CURTISS?
