Chino today (June 4th, 2011)

Sun Jun 05, 2011 12:50 am

Don't usually find the time to cruise and take photos, too busy working in the hangar, but I brought a guest to the airport today and took the camera with.

First, from Yanks...

Hellcat center section nearing installation on fuselage. Some parts and identity come from a wreck on Hawaii.

Great stuff! Thanks for posting those. Really like the 39 and 63 images. Oh to see those fly. That and a straight winged 84 :)

I spied (with my own little eye) an F-106 next to the F11F Tiger and an E-2C behind the F-14...

Quite an impressive collection of aircraft!

Yanks just finished up a new hangar and is taking the opportunity to fill it up with the (freshly repainted) jets that have been sitting outside for some time. The paint jobs are fantastic and should last nearly indefinitely stored indoors.

Yanks also has a huge collection of antique aircraft as well.

If you haven't been there in a year or two you are really mising a lot. With the new hangar space they have put some airframes on display that have been in an offsite hangar for quite some time. They still have a hangar full of projects as well as an outside storage yard.

Thanks for taking the time to post. Being on the east coast this may be my only chance to see these planes for quite some time.

Funny little chopper appears to be a McColloch MC-4.

Several years ago Planes Of Fame had a P-39 wreck displayed outside in "as-found" condition; I haven't seen it recently - where is it now?
