Sad news! The crew of 2 is OK, that's the good news.

This is "Russell's raiders". This A/C is currently registered in Switzerland as HB-RDE (ex F-AZID).

I also believe that it is Russell's Raiders, but I have it as F-AZZU?? Anyone know more about this? From what I've seen, it was previously HB-RDE and was transferred to the French registry recently. I don't really know about F-AZID. Any extra information would be welcome...

Edit: from the looks of it (i.e. quick online search) it was F-AZID, then HB-RDE and now F-AZZU.

According to Scott Thompson's excellent website that leaves (an almost unbelievable) 42 B-25s airworthy, with another four being restored to fly.

And the history of the aircraft was: 45-8811, N9621C, F-AZID, HB-RDE, F-AZZU.

Glad the crew is okay, and hopefully the aircraft can be repaired, or if not, parts will find their way onto other B-25s.

minus 1 on the operational list has N25NA hasn't flown since Jeff ferried it to Aurora 3-4 years ago
after sitting at EVG for 3-4 years and is torn all apart and who knows when (or if) it'll fly again.

And I will be the first to admit my listing needs updating...it has been neglected. I will certainly accept corrections and additions as needed and incorporate as time permits. I'm working on the site this week so hopefully I'll get some of those added, including this latest unfortunate incident.

In a B-25, did they have extingushers in the engines? Or do bomber warbirds on the airshow circut currently have them for saftey?
