Saw this project listed on Facebook, any thoughts on which one it might be?

I would love to see a Thunderjet restored to flying status, but I wonder how much truth there is to this being a viable candidate for a flying restoration project?

The F-84G has received a comprehensive inspection from a leading restoration shop which included X-raying the wing spars. It is definitely a candidate for restoration to fly. Pictures and specifications will be up on our website shortly.

EXCELLENT news, Simon! I hope you can get a buyer that can make this happen.

Veddy eenteresting... seems to be only three G models - 51-791, 51-1386, 52-3242 and maybe a fourth, 51-1225 (last seen in the 70s) - in the U.S. now; but a large number went to Europe and a few more went to Thailand - what's the history on this one and are there any issues with importing it to the U.S. (assuming it's overseas)?

Thanks for the reply Simon. I'll admit, I'm a little skeptical just because there's been so little news on potential F-84s that could be made flyable. However, if there is one that could be a viable candidate, this is great news. I would love to seen an F-84 fly some day. One of my favorite Cold War jets.

Chris,

Perhaps 51-1386 was a typo? Both Baugher and WIX registry has it listed as an F:

51-1381/1430 Republic F-84F-10-RE Thunderstreak

:badpc: Ugh. Don't know how I left that one in there - it's mistakes like this that make me want to take up knitting, but they won't let me have pointy things in here

The availability of a straight-wing F-84 for restoration to flight is, in my opinion, a big deal. Yet this story has go strangely silent.

In addition, the Platinum listed F9F Panther "package" is now missing, yet not listed under the "sold" page.

If only I wasn't interested in warbirds!

When I went to the "Platinum Fighters" Facebook page on July 3 and asked about the status of the F-84G and the two F9F Panthers, this is the response I received:

"Platinum Fighter Sales There will be some exciting news about all three aircraft in the near future. Stay tuned."

As of yet there is no further information on the Facebook page, but I hope we hear something soon. I agree that the possibility of a potentially flyable F-84G Thunderjet is a BIG deal. :)
