I attended Cedric’s service today; it was a somber affair as to be expected. However, there was some laughing to be had when the stories of his life started to be regaled. I wish the sound system had been better as I heard a lot of complaints from some of the old timers that they couldn’t hear the eulogy clear enough. I ran into some of my father’s old aviation associates and with them all being retired they had some stories that have soured my idea of the aviation world. I’m not saying that I’m naïve but it’s sounding like the aviation world has started down the slippery slope that everyone is on the take. I heard that bribery, under handed dealings are becoming the normal business practices and anyone who’s surviving in today’s aviation world has most likely screwed or been screwed from someone. I’ve heard a lot of aviation stories from my father over the years but he always put a positive spin on his career path he took in life. Another chap I spoke with today use to be an aircraft broker, he’s admitted he’s been screwed by most foreign countries when dealing with them but now North America is quickly becoming one of them. After hearing some of the stories today, I wonder if anyone in the aviation game is legitimate and still have idealistic thoughts of aviation, or is it all about money. The more I hear these stories, the more I’m glad I didn’t take this career path.
