Alert to Tulsa Warbird Fans!

Mon Apr 25, 2011 6:37 pm

Just a friendly FYI... this weekend is the Tulsa Air and Space Museum's annual Aviator Ball. It is being held this year in American Airlines' new Hangar 80, located just off 46th Street North on the north side of the Tulsa International Airport. As part of the event this year, just like most years, several warbirds will be doing a fly-by of the event before landing and rolling over to the hangar for the event. If you would like to buy a ticket and support the museum, please visit the website at http://www.tulsaairandspacemuseum.org

At the event, rides will be auctioned off on most (if not all) of the aircraft that are flying in. The aircraft that will be flying and will have rides auctioned will include:

P-51 Mustang
T-6 Texan (x2)
Yak-52 (x2)
Stearman
Chipmunk
WACO
L-39

The DC-3 "Flagship Detroit" will also be on hand, and one bidder will win a flight for him/herself and 17 of their closest friends.

There may or may not be some surprise aircraft that choose to participate in the fly-bys, and if so those will be last minute decisions. If you choose to come to the event, you should have a spectacular view! If not, this is fair warning that the fly-bys will start somewhere between 6:30 and 7:00 PM this Saturday, August 30th, and will last for approximately 20 minutes.

Hope to see you there!

Just an update- one more P-51 will be on the ramp as a static, and a PZL TS-11 "Iskra" will be doing a fly-by.
