Hi fellow Wix'ers....just wanted to pass along a word of thanks for your contributions of pics and info regarding the F-4 Phantom at Newark Ohio KVTA airport.
This week we received a green light (or maybe better put a camo light!) from the USAF for the overall paint scheme concept and project plan. Your collective input was key to making this happen.
So now we start our journey to make this historical aircraft a tribute to vets of all generations...and it will be the largest airplane model Ive ever painted! At least its easier to get around than those peskyRevell 1/72 kits!
Again, my thanks to all...look for more updates as to color scheme details, publicity, volunteer search and progress reports.

Hi Mike...glad you to hear you can help out. I have a "Restore The F-4" flyer that I'll post on the Ohio Valley Wing Facebook site..it will be a nice touch for the airport as well as the vets that live in the area.

Seeking Volunteers!
The McDonnell Douglas F-4C Phantom II “683” located at Newark/Heath airport has a long service record in Southeast Asia. Our team is in the process of planning the preparation & painting of this aircraft to restore it to its original service colors as a tribute to veterans of all ages.
We seek volunteers to assist during May – July with preparation, painting and finishing activities.

Hi Chris....just dropped you an email...thanks for the paint tips.
The Newark Ohio airport is slated for a few weeks of closure due to runway re-surfacing...a good opportunity to complete the paint & finishing phase.
This aircraft has a very interesting service history as well as somewhat mobile existence post-SEA conflict. Im sure it will be smiling with a fresh coat of paint from former days of glory...
BTW, does anyone know how I can post a word doc with pics to WIX? I'll go the Facebook route but thought that a direct post route to WIX would be nice...

Where is this aircraft in relationship to Dayton? We may be able to come and help as well.

About 1 1/2 hours east of Dayton. About 10-15 min off of I-70.
