I take it the "aerial" shot was taken from the lighthouse? I'm gonna have to go up there next time..last summer it was just too bloomin' hot!

Any shots of how cleared out the ramp is now. How about the B-25 or PBy outside?

Yup, the aerial shot is from the lighthouse. It's quite a climb and will "raise the hair" on the back of your neck if you are the least bit squeamish about heights...

I didn't make it out to the ramp. After hours of walking around the Museum, IMAX, etc., it was getting late and we still wanted to get over to the Pensacola Lighthouse down the street. I'll hit the ramp planes next time for sure...

It's a beautifully done cutaway of an otherwise possibly unrestorable airframe.

The PBY was actaully an aircraft that had an "incident" and sank in the bay during the war..it was fished out and reconfigured as a cutaway for use as a training aid at the base. I don't recall the specific dates, but when the building it was in was closed the cutaway was sent to the museum..makes a really cool display.

WOW, they have really done a lot. I lived in P-Cola in the early 80's. & spent a lot of time over on base, & its great to see the progress thats been made.Thanks for sharing with us. I got to get down that way again soon.
