Hope I'm not posting something already posted, but a friend emailed my this link. Sad, sad, sad.

The more stupid thing is, that I'm pretty sure the guns were demilitarized long time ago in France.
European countries are more strict about weapon than USA are, so I'can imagine that this plane has live gun when it's was based in Saint Rambert d'Albion in the south of France.

That is terrible to hear... What will happen to the Spad once it gets turned over to the Feds :Hangman:

Is this article just a re-publication of the old article or is this actually something new? They are quoting an interview from 2009!

Either the NMUSAF or the NNAM will lay claim to it and scrap it. I'm positive of that, as they have scrapped much more rare and one of a kind aircraft than a "common" Skyraider.

Right. Never mind the fact that the NMNA just cleaned up their 2nd Skyraider and brought it inside, and that the NMUSAF is in the process of restoration of a 2nd Skyraider as well. Or the fact that they have nothing at all to do with this. I hope the gentleman gets to keep his aircraft. I do. But it sounds like he is the one at fault here.

I believe that YAM's Russian AN-2 was siezed by the goverment in a drug bust and given to YAM under condition that it never fly again....same sort of thing may happen to this example...she may go to a museum.

I am trying to stay out of this but I have to put in my .02. Claude made the mistake of trusting another party to handle the importation of this aircraft. It went wrong. As it stands now the aircraft can go to a Non Profit organization, either flying or not...OR it can go to a Government facility, museum, whatever.

What I don't understand is that's not authorized to import a plane with demilitarized guns in the USA ?

Someone could inform me about the rule in your country ? thanks

The rule is, we put the stupidest people in charge, and let the ones with the smallest winkies enforce the stupidest rules. This is because the first group is criminally unemployable in any honest capacity, and nobody can stand the second...

I don't know about the shipping container, but if the pilot flying it in was someone other than the owner/purchaser and told stories that is was just visiting knowing full well it wasn't, then I'd say the owner has a case against the pilot. As to where it is going, I hate to think about that.

If he's got the time, money and a good lawyer, he can keep kicking this up towards the Supreme Court. Any chance he can prove the pilot, not he, filed false information? Sounds like someone trying to make a name for themselves in the AG office.
