C-47 in the new A-team movie

Fri Jan 28, 2011 9:36 am

Just watched the new movie, and thought it was cool. But there is a scene when they break Murddock the pilot out of a mental hospital by ramming a Hummvee into the wall. As they are escapint to the flight line you can catch glimpses of a really polished C47 in the background. Anyone know which one. Looks almost like the Yankee Air Museums.

Probably not a real airplane like the Albatross in the Expendables movie.

A HMMWV is made of aluminum and plastic. Well, the frame is steel, but if a HMMWV crashed into a real wall it would be completely destroyed. Even if you don't crash them they don't last very long.

And I heard that GTMO was torture! Maybe they should show this movie instead? :finga:

As Mudge might say: "I'm just funnin' ya son!"

Actually it was a real Albatross, and it was cool to see an HU-16 on the big screen. (55" HD LCD 8) ). I checked the credits and the plane was owned by a S American company as the island scenes were filmed in Brazil. The pilot is credited as Lynn Hunt. I liked that sequence and was happy to see a warbird put to work rather than cheesy CGI. The photog in me appreciated some of the nice footage they caught of it in some of the other scenes, probably with a stabilized gimble mount on a helicopter.

For those who haven't seen the movie here's what we're referring to:

I saw this on the DVD's making of featurette. It features a dry run pass along with Sly's reaction. And Jason Statham really did ride it down in the nose hatch!

True it was a real airplane , but the machine gunner in the bow , rockets and bombs were a little hard to take not to mention the friendly chats and cigar smoking in the cockpit without headphones!

I am pretty sure the C-47 is real. It looks like it was filmed at a military base, and that it may be a gate gaurd aircraft. Not sure. It is polished with the white top like the YAM C-47
