Anyone know if this place is still open? Their website has gone bye bye.

The hanger is still there and there are a few interesting airplanes in there...but I don't know if I would call it a "museum" as such. It looks to me like any other general use hanger at the airport but not very inviting for the general public. They are still listed on the Airport Directory.

I've passed by there multiple times over the past couple of years, and never seen it open, never seen a car parked there.

Got to make sure you are looking at the southern hangar. Doc has a hangar on the north end that used to have the musuem sign on it. I haven't been by but once since Matt Wright passed away. We used to keep the L-10 out in front of Frank's until Matt shuffled all of Doc's stuff around in the north hangar and moved it in there with the Staggerwing, the L-4 and the PT-22. At some point Doc ended up building a significantly larger hangar down on the south end and most of his aircraft moved down there, he kept the north one for storage.

This thread reminded me that I saw an SNJ coded 8 in the so-called "Southern hangar" in April 2005.
Any ideas please?

Are we talking about the same hanger that has a Sea Fury sitting in it? It was either last year or the year before when I was down there doing the Denton Airshow that I saw a Sea Fury sitting in a hanger in the far end.

The "old" hanger is on the north end. It used to have the Museum sign on it. That was were Doc Almand had his Lockheed and and such...(I wonder if the Anson Wings are still in there? ) The Sea Fury was there last time I saw it as well.

The new hanger is the one towards the south end. It is where I last saw the signage. There was no one around last time I was there....

Thanks! That is the Sea Fury but it did not look like that when I saw it. It was inmay pieces. I think they were in the middle of an annual and some additional work.

I will be back down to Denton in June to do their airshow again. I will make sure to check out both ends of the airfield this time and check on the "Museum". Hopefully they have put the Sea Fury back together. I sure would like to see it fly in the show!
