Yay, now there's hope of a flying F-105 again! :)

Metcalf did a lot of good for the NMUSAF, but he needed to go, IMO, if for no other reason than to smooth over all of the antagonism and angst he created with several flying museums/organizations.

Anybody know anything about Gen. Hudson, or is he going to be a Metcalf clone?

*Rick H must be jumping for joy over this, while Mustangdriver is crying!*

I personally think that the General did a great job. While he was in command he:

Moved the Memphis Belle to Dayton and begin one of the most detailed restorations of a B-17 to date
Worked out a deal to bring the Swoose to Dayton and start restoration on it
Added a Cold War Gallery that brought many aircraft indoors
Added a Missile silo that ensured the preservation of the rockets and ICBM's
Got JFK's Air Force One restored back into it's correct paint scheme
Added the barracades around each aircraft to preserve them
Raised the level of restoration the museum was doing to rival that of some of the leading museums

and much more. Like him or not that man saved many airframes.

Where him and I disagree is on items like the F-105. DO I think that the NMUSAF mig killer F-105's should be flown? No. I do think that one of the F-105's out there on display or in storage at AMARC shold be allowed to fly.

Isn't it Dick Anderegg who is blocking the F-105 issue?

There are many people who are blocking it, but Metcalf was the primary person responsible from everything I've read, heard and researched.

It's actually the other way 'round. The NMUSAF Director ultimately works for Anderegg.

O.K., I stand corrected. So, I'm assuming that Anderegg is still in place, so theoretically it doesn't matter who is the NMUSAF director, correct?

So, this leadership change then means nothing?
