This is the place where the majority of the warbird (aircraft that have survived military service) discussions will take place. Specialized forums may be added in the new future

I just thought some of you would like to see some photos of Dr. Frank Marci's Fiat G-46, N45FM.
It has been based at Farmingdale, Long Island for many years, but Dr. Marci recently moved to Connecticut so now the aircraft is based at Oxford Airport. It doesn't fly much, but use to go to a lot of shows. It's very stock and a beautiful aircraft. Dr. Marci has owned it for as long as I've been into warbirds, at least since the early 1970's.
Enjoy!

Shouldn't you be eating turkey!

Thanks for the pics. Great to see some more birds coming back to the state.

Looks great, lovely aeroplane.
Our example is coming on slowly. The rear fuselage is stripped down to basic structure and we've started putting the two rear frames (to which the horizontals and vertical attach) back together.
If anyone is interested, progress can be followed on our facebook page at

Does it have the original Italian engine or a substitute? Just curious. I can imagine that would be difficult to find parts for.

There are three of them stored within a few miles of me here in NorCal

Dr. Marci's G-46 still has the original engine.

Gipsy Queen 30 for ours. The original Alfa 115 is effectively a licence built Gipsy Queen, and the export versions of the G.46 for Argentina had a GQ30 and de Havilland bracket prop as standard. They use the original mounts, cowlings, spinner (though the different prop of course), but you get improved reliability, much easier spares situation and an extra 50hp or so.
If anyone needs an alfa 115 and original Hamilton/Fiat propeller we have a set spare to our needs. Engine in used, prop is new. Happy to consider letting them go.
We'd like to take on another G.46 project as we have all the jigs and tooling. If anyone knows of any..........
Thanks,
G
