Hi Guys- I did not know where to post this, so I assume it will get moved if necessary... My apologies.
I need some mechanical help with a WWII vehicle in Rye, Arizona, which I purchased a few months ago. I need to get it shipped here to NJ, but am having trouble with all the shippers I contacted because of its running condition: It runs, but the transmission is stuck in gear, and the brakes do not operate. I feel the tran. repair is a simple one- simply lifting the shifter top plate off the tranny & realigning the sliders and forks: If a detent lockout in the top went wonky, it can allow it to shiuft into two gears at one time. Clutch does operate, they tell me.
Of more import tho, are the brakes: the shippers are telling me if it can roll, steer and brake, no problem with the non-running issue.
Is anybody in the Phoenix area who might like to take a day trip & check out/repair the brakes enough they will stop the vehicle from a roll, so I can get a shipper? My only other option is to rent or borrow a truck, and drive out and back, renting a trailer when I get there to bring it home on- something I am not against, but I can't find any friends with a truck suitable... I'd say the brakes would at worst be a pull the wheels & drums, hone & reassemble the cylinders job, and probably the same for the master cylinder, and then fill & bleed the system.
The truck is a WWII Dodge WC52- an army pickup truck, and precursor to the Dodge Power Wagons of the 1940s- and right about the same size. Signle rear axle, single tire vehicle.
Unless anyone is riding empty to the Northeast with a flatbed, and wants to offset costs by about $1,500.00 and just pick it up for me.
Contact me with an e-mail ng19delta<at>yahoo<dot>com, as the machine at work never seems to make it onto the server here- always times out when I go to warbirds anymore

Thanks for any assistance, and apologies for posting location errors-
Robbie
