That is truly an awesome video. Those B-25's took off in what looks like about 100'! Truly amazing.,. well.., maybe not 'amazing'.., I am sure they had 1/5 the fuel Doolittle and his lads had on their mission.., minus the bombload.., but still what a beautiful site!!!!! What a thrill to have cheered those off!

Thanks for the post!!!

Doolittle would be thrilled!

Interestingly enough there have been several post war civilian B-25 launches from aircraft carriers. The first of which was in 1992 to commemorate the 50th anniversary of The Doolittle Raid.

1. 1992 - B-25J 44-29199 "In The Mood," B-25J 44-30748 "Heavenly Body," CV61 USS Ranger, off of NAS North Island, CA for the 50th anniversary of WWII

2. 1995 - B-25J 44-29199 "In The Mood," B-25J 43-28204 "Pacific Priness," B-25J 44-30606 "Tootsie," CVN70 USS Carl Vinson, off of NAS Alameda, CA for Fleet Week celebrations in conjunction with the 50th anniversary of VJ Day

3. 1995 - B-25J 44-29199 "In The Mood," B-25J 43-28204 "Pacific Priness," TB-25N 44-30832 "Take Off Time," CVN70 USS Carl Vinson, off of Pearl Harbor, HI for 50th anniversary of VJ Day

4. 2000 - B-25J 44-29199 "In The Mood," B-25J 43-28204 "Pacific Priness," B-25J 44-86747 "Mitch The Witch," B-25J 44-30423 "Photo Fanny," CV16 USS Lexington, Corpus Christi, TX for filming of the movie "Pearl Harbor"

5. 2000 - B-25J 44-29199 "In The Mood," B-25J 43-28204 "Pacific Priness," B-25J 44-86747 "Mitch The Witch," B-25J 44-30423 "Photo Fanny," CV64 USS Constellation for filming of the movie "Pearl Harbor"

I think Bill Klaers and Alan Wojciak have the record of piloting the most amount of B-25s from aircraft carriers at 5 launches for each of them at the controls of B-25J 44-29199.

An interesting previous thread regarding the VJ Day launches.
