WWII Museum New Orleans

Read today the WWII Museum in New Orleans is getting a B-17, B-25, Avenger and a Dauntless to display in their new museum expansion. Does anyone know where these aircraft are coming from and which aircraft they are?

They had an Avenger replica that Tommy Lupo paid for.
The SBD is on loan from NNAM.

I have the scoop on the B-17 straight from the museum. The museum has acquired B-17G 44-83387 which of late was hanging in that bar in Colorado. It will be resorted as Boeing Belle which flew with the 100th bomb group. I myself thought this was only a partial airframe but nonetheless, pretty cool acquisition. Ahhh...now it all makes sense....the B-17 from the State Armory bar in Greeley WAS only a partial bird...the fuselage from the nose to just aft of the waist guns if I recall....used in the 12 o clock high TV series I was told....a guy got ahold of me recently about parts for it, said he saw in some of my photos some B-17 wingtips and wondered if Darrell Skurich still had them...sadly they went to the Paul Allen gang for his B-17...VERY nice to know the B-17 will be restored for an honorable purpose...

Does the facility even have the space for a complete B-17? I've never been there, and was under the impression it was in an urban area. A nicely restored B-17 fuselage would make still make a nice display, and wouldn't take up too much room.

They have been expanding the museum to the point that it will ultimately take up several city blocks. It has really evolved since they first opened their doors in 2000. They must have backers with deep pockets.

I thought the Brainerd B-25 44-29812, Safe Return was at Aero Trader?

I was just able to confirm that the museum has in fact acquired the ex-Brainerd B-25. This along with the B-17, C-47, SBD and a Spitfire, the museum is putting together a nice collection of aircraft. Is there any additional aircarft I missed?

The is also a BF109G-10 replica with some original parts.

The greedy part of me is sad to see the former Greeley bird (that in concept could be a potential flyer) go to a static-only museum. Sure seems like one of the sad looking gate guards (or our old favorite, Preston's Pride) could find a great home there in New Orleans. That being said, this will probably ensure a much faster reassembly and reconstruction of this bird than otherwise would have taken place. Good for them!
