I just received the latest issue of Classic Wings and it looks like another good issue. Something that caught my eye while I was flipping through it, the NASM's Me 163 Komet is now on display at Udvar Hazy. I dont remember that being mentioned anywhere else before. I'm looking froward to reading the second installment all about the Garber facility by Scott Willey. Keep up the good work Dave!

Yes that seemed to sneak under the radar, it went in early because of the space required following the roof collapse of the one of the Garber buildings. Scott's article is certainly a fascinating account of what goes on. I am putting together the third, and I am sorry to say, final part of it now. However we hope to do another major feature closely related to this a bit further down the track.......

I always look forward to my Classic Wings. Great job as usual. Amazing restoration on the Seafire.

I have some nice pictures of the Komet, taken last June before they'd bolted the wings back on, sitting behind Enola Gay. I'd upload them to share, but Photobucket is being uncooperative this evening (the least they could do is throw an error message telling me WHY the files are failing to upload ...)
As with the P-38, P-61 and others she's preserved but not restored.

The wings are not on as yet, and won't be until it is moved into its final position next to the 'Loon'

I had problems with Photobucket a few weeks back, wouldn't load pictures or tell me what the problem was. I normally use Firefox and when I went to Internet Explorer, Photobucket worked fine. Sent Photobucket a message and got a nice reply telling me to update something or another. I never did it, and a couple of weeks later, I was able to use Photobucket on Firefox again.

I took this shot just a couple weeks ago. Just a touch out of focus.

Dave, At some time in the future when the new restoration facility is up and running at Udvar Hazy, I would like to see Scott do a story about the new facility and what planes will be going into restoration there. Just a thought.
