How many rounds did it take to shoot down the Pitts?
SJ is a beautiful machine. I got to tour her years ago on the ground here in TX. I still haven't taken a flight on her yet, but she's on the "bucket list". . .

I believe that's Paul van den Heuvel's Mig-21, unless it has changed hands.
Great pics Chris! Looks like it was a fantastic experience.

I can never thank you enough. It was an hour and 15 minute flight and we circled a nursing home that several B-17 vets were in so that they could get to see the plane. Amazing trip, one that I will never forget.
Very cool. I was going to attempt to come see her come in, but my snooze button was too close and I slept through it. As far as I know the 21 still is owned by Paul. He's been flying it a bit this summer, supposed to be headed out again this weekend I think.

Yeah he was doing some work on it with his crew chief. Both very nice guys.

Can anyone explain why the blue plexi panel on the upper turret? I've been wondering for several hundred years now, but never even began to investigate.

Haha. Our band played a show out there with the Reverend Horton Heat this spring. It was a long drive out there!

This has come up in the past. I believe the reason for it is because of the intense Arizona heat where the aircraft spends most of it's time. The colored plexi helps keep the temps down and the direct sun off of the person inside.
Nice pic's by the way. That plane seems to look nicer every year...
