I got to fly on Sentimental Journey Yesterday! Now with Pics

I got to go from Elkhart, IN to Dekalb, IL in the B-17 yesterday. I just want to say thank you to all of the great guys of the crew that took me along with them. I can never thank you enough. It was an hour and 15 minute flight and we circled a nursing home that several B-17 vets were in so that they could get to see the plane. Amazing trip, one that I will never forget.

Very cool. I was going to attempt to come see her come in, but my snooze button was too close and I slept through it. As far as I know the 21 still is owned by Paul. He's been flying it a bit this summer, supposed to be headed out again this weekend I think.

Can anyone explain why the blue plexi panel on the upper turret? I've been wondering for several hundred years now, but never even began to investigate.

This has come up in the past. I believe the reason for it is because of the intense Arizona heat where the aircraft spends most of it's time. The colored plexi helps keep the temps down and the direct sun off of the person inside.
