This is the place where the majority of the warbird (aircraft that have survived military service) discussions will take place. Specialized forums may be added in the new future

I see that you have locked the topic on the anniversary of the Atomic Bombing.
You have accused the original poster which was me, of starting with "a bit of politics". I 'd like to hear your explanation for what you think I wrote that fits this bill. Nothing I wrote was pushing any party or candidate nor even any law. The Bomb was developed under one Democrat, and dropped by another Democratic President, so what I wrote was not anti your Republicans. Others, like Oscarduece wrote their criticism of the current President, that was not what I wrote.
The topic of the Atomic Bomb is very fitting for WIX, it is certainly about warbirds and war strategy, weapons, and military, and soldiers and airmen and so on. With FiFi flying again this type of mission is back to newsworthy.
It is a topic that has been on tv news, in the papers, and even in churches. It in general was part of the war crime trials. It is part of the current international talks that are going on, Salt?, to limit nuclear weapons. It is part of the threats from N. Korea or Iran.
There are many other topics on WIX that have gone on much longer and with much disagreement, such as the one on the Boeing tanker dispute, and they have not been locked, nor should they be. The tanker is an important issue, but it is nowhere near as important as nuclear weapons. But this is a private site, and a free and open discussion seems to still be a threat to some of you on WIX.
That's sad.

Bingo! Rules just don't matter to some folks. I think he wanted to get it locked.

A discussion with combat veterans would probably result in the same old tune. "Dead is dead..." The mechanism to achieve that end is unimportant.
The responsibility of citizens is to be extremely careful in selecting it's leadership and in the case of the USA, making sure the federal government adheres to the Constitution.
Often wars are created in haste and without defensive justification. Too many these conflicts were undeclared, which I believe only Congress has the right to send the country to war.
There are other forums to debate the politics of this issue. WIX should remain a valuable source of information and not fall in the mud wrestling pit of opinion.

I miss all the cool threads
In regards to the Purple Hearts. There were appox 800K PHs manufactured
to meet the expected demand of projected WIA/MIA/KIA for the invasion of
Japan. Then were still being issued at the end of the Viet Nam War oops
conflict (don't want to start nuth'in here

). I understand they ran out
of them in the early 80s and those issed now are current manufacture and the
just don't hang right.
