Prop weights and diameters

Mon Aug 02, 2010 10:27 pm

Can anyone tell me the full weight and diameter of any of the following propellers?

Spruce Goose?

Skyraider?

F2G Corsair?

B-29?

Thanks.

Thanks for the B-29 diameter info.

I did some google searching last night with a little luck on the diameters but NOTHING on weights.

I found that the Spruce Goose props are 17' 2" diameter.

This propeller from a KC-97 is approximately 16'8" in diameter.

Another site said this regarding at least the F2G prototype:

"BuNo 13471-XF2G-1: The first FG1 model to test the R-4360 engine.
5/31/44) The aircraft still retained the FG1 cockpit and turtle deck. It had a 14ft., 4 blade propeller,..."

Here's an example for a 63E60 (3 blade large spline- 611 lbs.):

You might want to check here using the search term "hamilton standard":

This will only get you FAA type certificated parts though, not an exhaustive list of warbird parts.

FYI: The props on the C-124a were 16ft 6in diameter (Round tips)
The props on the C-124c were 17ft diameter (Square tips)

From the 1954 AD-6 Skyraider Flight Manual:

Aeroproducts A642-G804/M20A2-162-0 with a 13' 6" diameter.

An educated guess of the KC-97 propeller assembly is, 1100 pounds.
