Whatever became of the CWH F4U that wore these same markings? Brings back memories of all the NE airshows that she would turn up at! I know CWH sold her a few years ago.

I think it was the one purchased by Brian Reynolds at the Olympia Flying museum. It is undergoing a ground up restoration at Airpower Unlimited the same ones that restored this airplane and also just won Grand Champion Warbird at OSH yesterday. Could we have a hat trick with a third Grand Champion? Don

Anyone know why this Corsair is flying without tailwheel doors these days?

Oddly, the CWH bird only had half doors during its time in Hammy's markings.

I also remember that it (CWH) flew most of the time with the tail wheel locked down, as per most of my video of her. During the resto I hope they remove the smoked windows behind the cockpit...never liked the look of those.

The doors have recently been repaired and repainted but with the busy summer schedule haven't had the time to reinstall them. She flies just great without them.
The CWH Corsair was a two seater in addition to the window it had an odd airline style door with stairs to enter the rear of the fuselage. These have been removed during its current restoration.

Not true! It may have been down due to a maintenance issue, but it worked during the 10 years I was hanging out there.

I have to agree the tail wheel was never locked down on the CWH Corsair.
Never had maintenance issues ever that i recall with it while i was crew chief on the Corsair. I spent a lot of time in the back of that Corsair, 67 trips, totaling 121 hrs.
Based on the photos on the shops website and the ones Brad has taken it has been taken back to a single seat with no smoked windows or airstair door. It has the potential to be a grand champion when its done.
The cockpit was mostly stock military.
