I'd love to start a discussion on this amazing little airplane.

Anyone have any connections or insight on current operations ... or if any will survive as Warbirds?

There's one under restoration to fly at Cable. I thought I'd read somewhere that the NASA one was up for retirement soon, but stand to be corrected on that.

Pima has one. I think when I was there in '05 it was sitting disassembled outdoors, but it looks like it's been restored.

There was one assembled and one disassembled at Oxford Airport in Oxford, CT back in the 1980's. The assembled one looked almost ready to fly and both could be ones that have been discussed here already. I have a slide of it, but it's a little tough for me right now to get to them.
I'll see what I can track down.

Didn't NASA just stage the final flight of their YO-3A? If so, what will become of that airframe?

The NASA YO-3A is still flying for a research project for a University in the Midwest.

YO-3A 69-18007 is still for sale by the WMoF. It is 100% warbird. However, it needs a new canopy, prop, engine and a lot of TLC. I have lots of photos, digital manuals, etc. The beauty of 007 is the WMoF has all of the manuals and blueprints on the airplane except for the canopy frame and bubble drawings.

I was crew chief on this airplane in Vietnam 1970-71. If you should by it, please contact me at k.olney2@cox.net. I would enjoy working with you to see it flying again.
