Hi everyone - I'm new to WIX and had the chance last Thursday to check out the CWH Mynarski Lancaster at the Calgary airport. For an extra $5 we could take the inside tour.
First off - the view from the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology hangar. We also had the chance to check out some of the aircraft the maintenance students work on in the hangar like a Harvard and a early model 737-200.

The line up to get in was over half an hour. A CWH member came along the line telling people if they were claustrophobic or having mobility problems that they may want to reconsider the inside tour!

Glad I don't have mobility issues! It took some twisting and turning to get to the left after entering through the nose hatch and up to the cockpit.

Here's a portrait of myself taken by my daughter, hunched over just aft of the cockpit. How did these young men get around in this aircraft in full flying gear? Heroes all.

The view aft from the top hatch.

Thanks to the CWH for the level of access they allowed - people enjoyed getting under the bomb bay and close up to the tail turret etc.

The nose art - if you don't know the Mynarski story, google Andrew Mynarski.

Thanks again CWH for bringing her out west!
Cheers everyone,
John
