Duxford Flying Legends 2010 Pics

My second year in a row and a fantastic flight demonstration. Great day of flying starting off with the Spitfire tail chase and never slowed down. The Spitfire tail chase is absolutely incredible to watch. Including the Seafire they had 10 this year! Seeing them take off in groups of three and the constant roar of those sweet Merlins... I was in warbird nirvana. Loved Mr. Stephen Grey’s obvious talent with the Bearcat for his Joker routine. That plane has a serious growl to it that screams power. Five Mustangs did a tail chase this year, another display worthy of drool The Battle of Britain Memorial Flight provided the Lancaster along with a Spit and Hurricane on each wing... sweet. I can now say I’ve seen both flying examples of the Lancaster in person... how cool is that? The Balbo was of course the great finale... they managed to get 24 up this year. It’s probably the closest thing you’re going to simulate going back in time to 1943 seeing a squadron form up to go meet the bombers for escort. Thank you Rich... but an upgrade would be in order to get some decent ground to air shots I was very impressed with your video at the B-25 gathering... especially the approach to the airfield shots. I did some video as well with a mini-dv and will try to post later.

Still not quite there. The line in question reads Yak, Yak, Hawker Hurricane, Hawker Demon, Hawker Nimrod I, Hawker Nimrod II, Huck's Starter on Model T chassis, Hawker Hind wingtip.

James... the cockpit pic was a special treat. I causally mentioned to my buddy while looking at the aircraft that I had to get pictures of this for my brother-in-law’s Dad who flew in this type (and others) for British Coastal Command in WWII. When the girl at the desk overheard this, she asked another volunteer to escort me to the cockpit so I could get a picture. How nice was that? The world-wide appreciation for veterans is humbling.

Andy, the Blenheim Society is behind this one and yes... I’ve only seen the MK1 nose in pictures... only a nose a mother could love right?
