Pretty good work.
Just by way of observation, the sharper and higher-res of the photos seem to look better when colorized.
Shangri-La needs a red nose!

First time I have ever seen a picture of the B-25 with the secret uni-wheel landing gear.

Very definately. In black and white, the tones of gray seems to blend together and you don't notice so much the lack of detail in lower res pics. Add color, and the lack of detail becomes very obvious. But so many really neat photos are low res !

Another bad on my part. Gentile and Shangri-La started out his Mustang career in a white nose scheme, and this lasted until about his 10th kill, about 3 weeks or so, then they went to the colored spinners.... With the number of kills in the pic, after more study, you are of course correct, it should be red. I just did not research far enough before doing this one.

What is with the odd nosegun configuration on the B-24 "Hap" Hazard?? I dont recall having seen that before.

August, I went and changed Shangri-La to the correct nose color for the time period indicated by the kill markings .... If ya gonna do it, might as well do it right !

Original 445th BG aircraft - arrived in UK on 24 Nov 43. Not listed on a report dated 28 Dec 43 from 445 BG to 2BD of names and pictures on aircraft. Repaired at Woodbridge, Suffolk, 23 Apr - 12 May 44 - structural damage. Flew 27 combat missions with 445th BG / 703rd BS (RN G). Original Emerson A-15 nose turret was replaced by a special "glasshouse" cover with a Bell power turret taken from a B-26 tail position and installed in the lower part of the nose, with the bomb sight and clear sight panel positioned above. Declared war weary Aug 44. Flown by Col. Al Key for Operational Engineering back to Wright Field, USA, on 6 Nov 44.

Nice work. Here are a couple I have done in the past.
A colourised wartime black and white photo of nose art on a No. 30 Squadron RNZAF Avenger

A Fairey Gordon advanced trainer of No. 2 Service Flying Training School, RNZAF Station Wigram, Christchurch, NZ

A visitor to RNZAF Station Whenuapai, Auckland, in 1945

Vildebeests over Auckland

It's all a bit of fun really.

I wonder if the shot of Henry Ford II on the towmotor tug was the begining of his decision to cancel the deal to buy Ferarri and build the GT-40?
And photo #3 is a 498th AIR APACHE on a raid in the Hanoi area (can't find my copy of WARPATH to identify the airplane or crew) but seconds after that picture was taken the wing came off and all on board were killed

Very cool indeed!
What's going on with the open hatch on the -26's aft fuse?

Also, check out Diamond Lil/Ol' 927's two-panel windscreen on the -24. Interesting! Means it's a late model Lib, I'm guessing?

Nice, Dave. I especially like the Gordon. And the 1939 "composite" pic is great. I've tried a couple of those, and they are much harder to make look 'right' than just colorizing. Excellent job on that one !
Anybody wants to, here is the link to my photobucket album of colorized WWII. About 165 pics at this time.
