I'm just finishing the book "Whirlwind" by Barrett Tillman and I'm thoroughly enjoying it. Its all about the bombing of Japan not only by B-29's but by carrier operations as well. The figures for Task Force 58, as mentioned in the book, have always boggled my mind: 16 fast carriers, 8 battleships, 15 cruisers, 77 destroyers and 1,200 aircraft! I highly recommend the book. Anyone else reading/read it?
