Tuskegee Airman Bill Holloman Gone West

Wed Jun 09, 2010 4:53 pm

Just got this from the Cascade Warbirds email list.

Cascade Warbirds,

Please be advised that LtCol Bill Holloman, one the most revered and distinguished members of the Cascade Warbirds, has had a rather severe heart attack. He has been at Valley Medical Center in Renton since Monday. When I called his room, his daughter Leslie answered. She reports that Bill is in a coma, but responding well to treatment. A CT scan later today will be done to determine the extent of the damage to his heart. When you call the hospital, you will get the nurse’s station so you don’t have to worry about disturbing Bill.

I have sent flowers from the Cascade Warbirds with a note to Bill and to his family in attendance. I relayed that he is in our thoughts and in our prayers and I have advised his family to let me know if there is anything the Cascade Warbird squadron can do for Bill or his family. I will “rally the troops” if something comes up.

Tony Caruso has also stopped by Bill’s room. Leslie believes that Bill responded well to having a friend visit.

I will relay any further news. For now, let’s do what we can to let his family know how important Bill is to us but without pestering them. I will make daily checks on him and relay any updates.

Greg Anders

UPDATE

Bill Holloman was taken off of life-support yesterday afternoon and remains in a coma. His family is maintaining a bed-side vigil. We ask that you continue to keep them all in your thoughts and prayers.

I had the honor of meeting Bill at the POF airshow a few weeks ago. Bill was quite the gentleman and it was an honor to have met him. We will miss him terribly.
