I saw a man today at a fast food place with a beautiful A-2 with painting on the back........Eighth Air Force, 487th I beleive, 35 mission bombs, and Square P (I think) on the tail. I wanted to go up to him and thank him and ask where in England he was stationed, not wanting to interrupt his meal he left before I got to shake his hand. One of those chances you will never get again.

Same scenario with me last night at the Golden Corral. Probably ninety years old with a P-47 shirt on eating dinner with his wife. I had my A-26 Nimrod shirt on and he gave it a good look when he walked by. I nodded to him but like you said, I didn't want to disrupt his meal. D*mmit, I wish I had.

I ran into a guy in an elevator at the Grand Sierra in Reno a couple years ago who was wearing an Air America hat and an airplane shirt. We struck up a conversation and my wife and I ended up with several hours of drinks, stories and fun with him and several of his buddies. seems they were there for a reunion. I have an Air American pin to remember the evening.
I find that anyone "advertising" so to speak, is proud of their service and more than willing to tell you their story.
