Book Updates requested

Fri Feb 12, 2010 2:06 pm

I know Scott recently had an update of "Final Cut", but was wondering about our other WIX authors. Randy, any news on the Cav book? Andy, you stated not long ago the "US Military" was going to be going through another printing. Has that happened and if yes, where is it available? How about the long rumored Dick Phillips book? Nick and Kevin?

Anyone else out there currently working on anything, or know of anything that will be published soon? Any details available?

Thanks for any info!

Dave

The Dick Phillips book, is still a work in progress. As it has been for the last 30+ years.
It will be called, THE LAST OF THE WILD HORSES, an in depth history of every P-51 Mustang to ever carry civil registration. As a little tease, who out there can tell me anything about mustangs, N3915B, 3916B,3917B, 3918B asnd 3919B? John Kerr, don't you tell them, as I know you know about the story.

Sorry Dick, I was really only half teasing....I like many others have been patiently waiting for some time for your book! Glad to know it is still a work in progress and hope to hear more! As to the challenge.....I am going to have to search my records to see if I have a clue to those birds!

The Cavalier Mustangs book is still very much alive and in the works.

Now that I'm back in the US, I'm pushing myself to have my part done by the end of '10, with hopeful publication in '11. Publication, of course, depends a lot on the recession and the willingness of publishers to put out books on a relatively obscure topic for a limited audience.

The delay is totally my fault; I had to step back from it during my overseas deployment, since I was busy studying USAF Air Command and Staff College (by correspondence) as well as getting my MBA -- just that point in my career when I had to make that a priority.

So I can now get my focus back to working on the book. There's still a lot of writing and editing to do, though.

My next book “Vintage Flyers III” is making good progress. The layout is done and the following statistics are now fixed numbers.

1036 color pictures (412 air-to-airs).
678 types 1903 to 1955.
221 eight inch or larger color prints.
126 new types.

The book should go to print in late 2010 or early 2011.

Vintage Flyers two is still available, PM me if you're looking for a copy.
