Would like to find out more about this bird. Did a quite search, and all I could find was this, perhaps someone could find out more?

Wheels are in motion. Capt. Frank Libuse is my "uncle". My cousin Craig Libuse is the one who provides me with some of the things I post, ala scale model P-51 & Corsair.

I have sent the link to Craig to see what info he can provide and will post it upon receipt.

Actually, in his father Frank's old house in Vista. Craig works for Sherline Products, manufacturers of mini lathes and mills and is the curator of the Craftsmanship Museum which is where a lot of these amazing scale models are shown.

Hi Scott,
Attached are several more photos from dad's war album. Two are of the war bond tour he did after returning from New Guinea with "Miscellaneous." I don't know if that is one of the birds he flew while over there or if it was just for the tour. One of the shots from New Guinea shows a C-47 with the name airbrushed out. In the photo before scanning, it appears to have the number "4" behind the cockpit, not "2." There are also two other photos of him in planes called "Miss America" and "Yardbird." I think he said they flew whatever was next in line that day. This shot shows a different crew than the one on the bond tour. I have another shot of Sgt. Boffa eyeballing one of the ladies on the tour. With the pencil thin mustache he looks like quite the lady-killer--along with dad, although dad was engaged by that time.

Dad still remembers that era quite well if you ever want to give him a call at ***-***-****. He could give you details on "Miscellaneoous" directly. He turned 92 last Thursday but is still quite sharp. I'm sure he'd enjoy a call from you.

About the spear. It was carved out of one solid log--the three points in the
middle are all one piece with the shaft. They had local tribesmen loading
the planes. This guy showed up with the spear one day. Dad pulled a foil
beer lable off a wet bottle and stuck it on this guy's forehead. This
apparently promoted the guy to king of the group. He handed dad his spear in
exchange. Somehow he got it home from the war and still has it in his den."

Wow, this is amazing, I thought I would get some info here on WIX but one degree of seperation to one of the guys in the photo is incredible.

One of my questions has been answered in the fact that she did do a bond tour back in the US.

Any chance of a serial number to track her post war career (if any)?

Just thinking, any chance of getting a pic of Capt. Frank and the spear as they are now?

Or as a long shot, in front of a DC-3/C-47 to partially recreate the picture...............a sort of 'then and now'.

The shot in front of a C-47 is probably not in the cards but I'll talk to Craig about getting Frank and the spear at home. Tha would really be cool. I plan to call Frank this weekend so I'll post our conversation. I am also trying to get Craig to do a "Timeless Voices" so I'll keep you posted.
