Doing what? enjoying the airplane they spent a heck of alot of their hard earned money on?

planes are built to fly...not sit around corroding in buildings and fields....IMHO of course

I read a couple of books by the late Neil Williams the great aerobatic pilot. He mentions that the low altitude pass was really the least dangerous but most impressive part of any display and especially if done at a high speed that allowed for energy transfer if something went wrong. Of course high speed is all relative in a PBY.

*Hangs Head* Ifin I had a Warbird........I would probably do the same thing, I would have a ball with her. I imagine that me and the entire FAA would be on a first name and case file basis, but hey...what the H e l l..........

Last I knew, it was headed to South America. Some dive company bought it and was going to do water landings with it and take people diving from it.
If you think the low pass was a issue. Lets see if you can keep a PBY in daily salt water operations.
That was a while ago, as far as I know, I dont believe they have done anything with the airplane yet. Maybe some of the people in the PBY circles have kept track of it.

Are you referring to Billabong sportswear, or someone else? Billabong made a big splash a few
years back about having a Cat to take their surfers and such on trips etc., but nothing
seems to have come of it or I missed something.

Right, believe that was a HU-16. I am talking about insurance!!! Why most PBYs do not see full water operations is that during WW2, we lost more PBY's to bad water landings then combat losses. Sure it can be done but with that and operating in a salt inviroment..........its going to be one or the other that will be the death of that airplane, not the occasional low level pass.............BTW, if you look enough on Youtube, thats not the only one by that PBY on there
No biggie nathan, just that there are worse things on youtube that could be better examples. Hense why I dont carry guns on my MV's, to many "hero's with cell phones and cameras" to call the cops and post on youtube.
