P51D DRAWING QUESTIONS

Wed Dec 09, 2009 12:01 pm

Hi guys

I'm in the process of producing drawings for a P51 Mustang including internal structure detail & would be greatfull if any of you guys out there could take time out to help me with a couple of questions:-

1 Does the lower Longeron running between sta75.5 & sta168 run straight, or does it follow the contour of the wing upper
surface

2 What exact sta no does the upper longeron start

3 Where can i obtain accurate frame profile ordinates

If anybody can help, i would be greatfull

Digital copies of NAA P-51 drawings are avail from multiple sources.
You can try ebay.

Lower longeron is straight over the wing and kicks up behind the wing. It also transitions from an I-Beam to a Tee shape (the inner flanges get cut off) at some point behind the wing. This is all from my memory though which is notoriously defective (just ask my wife), so don't build a real P-51 using this info.
