My recollection, Neal, was that all three of Tiger's Mustangs ran similar cut-down Northstar blades. Jeannie ran one as well. Could be wrong...but that was 'the' prop to run back then. As close as the 'pretenders' could come to the DeBona/Whittington prop.

I surely have had a bunch of knowledgable people over the years tell me with great certainty what those blades were! I've heard at least 4 opinions, three of them mentioned here in this thread. Probably half have said paddle-blade Ham Standards, most of the rest say cut down (and maybe retwisted) Northstar blades, and a firm -H Aeroproducts vote which I'm sure is wrong...

I always forget to ask Pete Law when I see him at Reno. He'd know.

I had one done for Bald Eagle by Oakland Propeller Service in Calif.
I believe they have the PMA for doing the Cuffs.
Cuffs are actually done in TX IIRC by someone else.
It was done maybe 7 years ago and the prop is in storage ever since.

I was going to post that de Havilland Mosquitoes usually had three-bladed propellers (not, by any means paddle blades in all cases though, as the earlier examples had needle props) but there were examples of the Mosquito with four bladed propellers. However they were rare, and I don't recall the exact examples from memory - high altitude version/s and Sea Mosquitoes as well as 618 Sqn 'Highball' modded machines - examples of the four blade hub and prop setup survive in Australian museums from these last ones, IIRC.

Dunno if Howard had anything to do with it, but this was a re-shaped blade that Tiger Destefani ran on Strega. People have incorrectly called it a 'scimitar' blade, but from what I recall it was a standard blade that just had a re-shaped leading edge.

Apparently we're talking about two different experiments. The one I'm referring to was the "scimitar" blade that Howard ran at the Phoenix 500 races back in the mid-90's. Does anyone have a picture of that?

The D type HS Blades would fit any D type prop hub.
So you could put 4 of a Mossie D blades in a 43D50 hub used on a Mustang.
