Some of the stuff I see at the new job

Sat Nov 21, 2009 5:44 pm

Just some pics from the new job, and some of the cool things that I have seen since I started.

This is our Runway18. We also have 27/09 and the grass strip which is 26/8

This is the start of the EAA Fly in that I worked. My first one as an ATC.

Some of the warbirds on the field. Super cool owner. Already have standing reservations to fly in both.

You mean they don't put you at ORD right off?

Is that Beech 18 flyable?

Looks like a fairly quiet, yet interesting airfield. Somewhat pastoral looking, have any problems with deer wandering the grounds? That would be high on my list of things not to run into with an aircraft. Very Messy.

This is Elkhart, Indiana. KEKM. It is the perfect mix of quiet on the weekends with just warbirds and general aviation. Monday thru Friday we get a pretty good turn out of Corporate Aircraft. Sure beats working for a living.

Chris, maybe in a coup;l;e of years I may be able to fly the Spitfire to Oskhosh again and i'll stop by there.

That would be awesome. You are always welcome into the tower cab my friend.

Nice locale, What's your daily average, 150 or so ops and about 350-375 on nice weekends? Are you under Indys TCA or just on a localizer, details man, we all want the nasty, grubby, secretive details of your new homeport-

EKM is nice. New tower, and great airport. Runway 9-27 just was redone from pavement to concrete and it is 6,500feet. Elkhart is not bad, just a small town that was hit a bit hard from the Economy. Some beautiful homes near some of the lakes(my choice). We under South Bends service. Class D Airspce. On a normal day in the summer I'd say about 150 ops. Less during the winter. On nice weekends we can hit numbers around 300.
