A friend's father was the pilot of a B-24 flying out of Cerignola, Italy. He was with the 15th Air Force, 455th Bomb Group, 743rd Squadron. The plane number was 283. Tail number not available.
Nose art shows the words "PITH ON U" covered by a white X and the word "CENSORED" painted below the X.
The plane had mission symbols for more than 70 missions.
He is looking for any photos of the aircraft, and especially any in flight. Not sure what model B-24 it was, or the exact time-frame.
Thanks,
Walt

The B-24 Best Web is always the best place to start for such things.
There are two photos there in the nose art section, one with the crew. Go here:
http://www.b24bestweb.com/pithonucensored2.htm
Maybe an inflight photo somewhere else on the site.
The model and serial are:
B-24H-10-FO
42-52283
It says also: "Renamed from 1000TH LIBERATOR - Lost 13 Sep 44 -MACR 8357"
Knowing this much now go here and request help from folks at this forum:
