Cassett Racer ?

I have one just like that and I was told it was for P-51H but I have never documented it though.

Gary,
NAA 117- prefixes are mostly P51H part numbers.
I have found a few on a -D, such as the oil tank dip stick.
Also maybe on T-28s.

Hmmmmm.....interesting.

I'm not familiar with the quadrant setup on an "H" model Mustang, and I'm embarassed to say that I don't remember the exact details of the T-28 quadrant either. It's been forever since I've flown or messed with either.

If you look closely at the first photo, you'll see a lever (bent 90 degrees) at the bottom of the quadrant. I believe that just about had to be for the mixture control, but like I said, I just cannot remember how the T-28 quadrant is set up. However, the more I (try) to think about it, that mixture lever seems more "Mustang-like" than the Trojan.....right?

My plans for this were to use it as a shifter handle for my hot rod truck, but if it's something that someone can use, then I'd rather it go to an airplane that'll fly someday.

Just did a Google search on the T-28 cockpit and found a picture of the throttle quadrant. It's completely different than what I have.......

Couldn't find a cockpit shot of the P-51H, but that's starting to look like what this is for. Thanks for the input y'all.

Gary, my first thought on that was maybe it was something John Morgan could use on his XP-51G project.

Scroll way down at the link to see a pic of his throttle reconstruction (don't think it's a match though):

First of all Dan, thanks for the link to that fella's project. Pretty neat undertaking he's got going there.

Second, I tend to agree with you with the fact that it doesn't look like my quadrant is a match for his.

Does anyone out there have a picture of an "H" model quadrant???

I know, I know... It's from a flight sim.

But this is positively uncanny.

Well Dan, I believe that's it. Thanks again to all of y'all for your help.

That took right around 2 hours and 45 minutes to solve and confirm. Isn't WIX great? I think it might catch on someday. :-)

Need help indentifying a throttle quadrant

Thu Sep 24, 2009 12:50 pm

Gary,

I don't know how much help it might be,but I found a picture of sorts of the thottle quadrant and associated gunsight ranging hardware on the website for the Mustang Restoration Project, which is restoring a P-51H (or F-51H).

Here's a link to their page on restoration progress:

They have a contact us link.Maybe they could send you a picture that more closely matches yours....LK

That's awesome, Larry. Thanks! I'll contact them right away.

And yes, their throttle quadrant (although partially disassembled) does look like the one I have here.
