Holy Krap.., surprised to see the Mosquito!!!!

Where is that now????

Indeed, very cool to see a Mosquito on the ramp. That pre-war Wildcat paint is rather cool as well, always liked those schemes!

Thanks, Bill. My first Galveston show was a few years later. Nevr saw the Scatterbrain Kid I, never saw the Mosquito, never knew it made it to a Galveston show.

The Blues taking the F-4s in there was sporty at best. GLS only has a 6000 ft runway ! We can do it with the A-4 but not the F-4, 7000 is our min.

That was Ed Jurist's Mosquito, right? Man, that had to be JUST after he brought it over the pond. Very nice!

Also great to see the Blues in the F-4's. I never got to see the T-Birds fly the Hun (which I've been told was pretty cool), but it seems the Phantom was just MADE to be a demo plane. Maybe it was the size (big as a B-25), or the shape of the wings, or whatever...but the diamond and delta formations were so filled in that it seemed 'solid'.

That A-26 with the yellow band on the tail and red nacelle rings isn't with us anymore, as far as I know. I think it had an engine fire in San Angelo and sat abandoned for years. John Stokes mechanics salvaged some parts off it for one of his planes in the late 80's, then a few years later it went away. Where to I don't know.

Thanks for posting them. They bring back sweet memories. The first airshow that got me hooked was Transpo 72 at Dulles airport. Wow that was a great show!

I can't recall, but most of those birds were there I think. It was awesome, I was like 14 and hooked on warbirds!

Did the Blues frequently use pink smoke or is that just the kodachrome?

I think it is a combination of red smoke against a blue sky and Kodachrome.

OS, do you know of any photo collections of the early Dulles shows? I attended one of the big ones around
1970? Saw my first C-5A, a Vulcan, Valkyrie, and a blistering routine flown by and E.E. Lightning..among
others there.

I was told by a member of the "Spirit of Waco" group years ago that N6101C was trucked to the farm of a Ranger Wing member and stored. I haven't got any confirmation that it is still there, so if anyone knows anything, lets hear it.
