Worst paint job ever

Somebody should tell the RAF that Home Depot will match your paint colors for you, if you need help...

RAF Alconbury has been a USAF station continuously since 1953, since 2005 home to both the 423rd Air Base Group and the 501st Combat Support Wing.

But I have to agree, the paint scheme on that A-10 is a tad fruity.

All the best,
PB

I think you'll find it's a USAF paint effort, although I have no firsthand info. The USAF operate out of 'RAF' bases in the UK, but they are USAF operated, administered and controlled. There's no RAF presence.

And agreed. Almost as lovely as the CAF 'Martlet' scheme.

Or the Lone Star Hellcat...............

The chrome barrel cover was used on some of the Flight demo team A-10s,
but all I have to say is that A-10 has to be soooooo embaressed

The 2 at Chino this year had the "bling" effect

Yes,its screwy but not as bad as the paint scheme on a noteworthy P-40 at oshkosh this year.

Were they drunk and/or high when they barfed paint onto that fuselage?

As it's a USAF base, they were probably 'carefully selected' to do it because they'd been naughty.

It was evidently not an issue to try and get it right for the ossifer in question. Wonder if he'd expect to put someone on a charge if they turned up on parade that 'badly dressed'?

So, if the airplane is neglected, the USAF is evil. If the airplane is taken care of, but using an incorrect paint scheme, then the USAF is evil.

Got it.

P.S. There's no Home Depot over in the UK.

Please Randy, it's a trivial topic, with a bit of fun.

Getting that green must've been more of an effort than painting the poor blasted thing grey like everything else that flies.

So, FWIW, no, the USAF isn't 'evil' - your term, but it is a pity that for the same effort a more credible scheme wasn't applied. A USAF officer did a half-assed job. Just like happens everywhere occasionally. Is it important? No. Did anyone die? No. Is it worth making profound moral judgements? I hope not.

(And painting an aircraft on external display isn't 'taking care of it', as has been amply and repeatedly shown here.)

YMMV

Howdy All

A certain P-40 that was recently in an accident in Oz, has to be the icing on the cake for me . Not sure what the owner was taking when he decided on the paint colors.
