Squadron code 'RB' makes it Australia's 10 Squadron RAAF, deployed to Coastal Command, Britain from 1939 - 1945.

10 Squadron's engineering staff, in parallel with Short's staff, were responsible for hanging Pratt & Whitney 1830 engines on the Mk.III Sunderland to make the much more powerful Mk.V.
