Minnesota's oldest aircraft needs a new home

Wed Aug 19, 2009 7:50 am

The 98-year-old Steco Aerohydroplane, housed for nearly a century in a Chicago garage and then at the American Wings Air Museum in Blaine, must find a new home now that the museum has closed.

Its wings, faded brown linen pieces stitched together and supported by a skeletal frame of iron and wooden rods no thicker than broomsticks, are heavily patched and have a few tears. The rotary engine is detached. The 1911 airplane had not seen daylight in 95 years. Minnesota's oldest aircraft finally had its day in the sun Tuesday.

Story in the Star Tribune.

Sad story but that first picture was nice.

Not sure about the second comment from the link.

NASM? And I really don't appreciate trying to see the picture through some 'Suzi Homemaker' video on how to roast a possum.
