EAA and CF Bombers visit NJ (pics)

Sun Aug 16, 2009 11:05 am

This past Friday I went and saw the EAA's B-17 Aluminum Overcast at Caldwell Airport. I took a tour through the plane. Yesterday I went and visited the Collings Foundation's Birds in Trenton NJ. I also got to tour through both CF bombers.

Here are a few pics. The weather was perfect and both groups had a steady stream of people coming to see the planes.

I saw Nine-O-Nine fly overhead later in the day on Saturday as I was walking along the D&R Canal. Looked and sounded beautiful. I'd say it was a perfect weekend. 8)

We fly out of Caldwell (Essex County), and my landing on 22 was with the '17 waiting to go once we cleared the runway. Pretty cool coming in with her there, but unfortunately, I had to pay attention to landing the plane so I couldn't enjoy the view.

The Collings stuff should be loaded with live bombs if they're around Trenton (NJ's corrupt gov't statehouse is there). :)

Whose T-28 is that?
I'd like to contact him for our fly-in next year.

Regarding Collings B-17, since they have changed markings on the B-24 several times are there any plans to change them on the 17?

I hope not. 909 is one of my favorite B-17's

When you were at Trenton, you might have seen me taxi by when CF was there. I'm sure you were more focused on the bombers than watching a C-152 taxi by. TTN is my home airport. Aluminum Overcast is here this weekend, and I'll go see her tomorrow.

I think I recall seeing a Cessna or two taxi by... but you are right I was a bit distracted by the bombers!
