Some quick shots of the static displays at the Lackland AFB Training Annex (used to be called Medina Annex) in San Antonio taken this evening.
I haven't had a chance to gather up the serials or specific models, but here are the shots:
RF-105
F-104
T-38A
KC-135
C-130 (used as a ground trainer of some sort...check out the air conditioning units installed on top of the wing center section!)
MH-53
F-16As in a training "flightline" for the Security Forces

Nice pictures. I saw those from the high view around lunchtime today. Saw a pair of T-38s do the overhead break, too! Pretty neat.

Thanks for the great shots Randy. I remember doing M16 training on firing range at Medina way back in the day.
Is that F-104 a two seater?

Great shots Randy! Two questions:
1) Are you based at Randolph now?
2) How is the F-82 doing these days, is the corrosion in check or not?

Hopefully the NMUSAF will get that YF/RF-105 inside soon.

I would love to see it come back to Dayton.

Since you brought it up, Mustangdriver,
The guy at Lackland who "owns them " has been told by the NMUSAF that they have NO interest in these aircraft. Their upkeep is the sole responsibility of the local organization.

Back in the day, my brother was one of the small arms instructors. I went for a visit one summer, & took some pics back then. I will try & find them & scan them in.

It seems like the perfect fit for the R&D Gallery if you ask me.

Well then your gripe of it being outside is with him, not the NMUSAF.
Their upkeep is the sole responsibility of the local organization? As they should be. If a person wants the planes there, they should be responsible to upkeep them. How many VFW's and such just had to have an F-84, and now they are in horrible shape? How is that the fault of the NMUSAF? Seems to me if you want something and fight to get it, you should upkeep it. The NMUSAF even used to provide the paint to some aircraft so that the people would go out and paint it. Thye stopped when the paint started disappearing but the plane would never get painted. I can understand them not wanting some of them. You can't save every F-4. i do feel however that the 105 needs to go to Dayton. but that is just my opinion.

Back in the days I was in OTS, they had a nice F-102 outside the main classroom building. I have a class photo somewhere...I wonder what happened to it.
I understand that the F-16 line-up (used to train security forces for flightline work) was at that time F-105s....never saw it personally.

If I'm not mistaken, the F-16 and F-105 mock flightlines are at two different locations. Opposite ends of the base as I recall.
The F-105s back in 1994.
