WW1 air-to-air shots en-route to Geneseo

For anyone interested in WW1 stuff, here some air to airs I took with my crappy little digital en-route to Geneseo from Brampton, Canada from the back of our Sopwith 1 1/2 Strutter. All aircraft are from the Great War Flying Museum.

Arrival over the field

These two were taken on the way home, I didnt take many as my cameras LCD screen was smashed during a game of Crud on Saturday night and I was shooting blindly.

And just for kicks here a pic of a massive fog bank over Lake Ontario, covering the Burlington Skyway and forcing us to divert slightly to avoid it.

If you really want to be period with it, get an old "Brownie" point and shoot. They are celebrating 109th anniversary this year, so it would fit right in with the aircraft! Though I'm not sure a Brownie would have shot better with the movement, wind and vibrations going on, but with modern film, it probably would do OK.

WWI and Old Rhinebeck really got me into flying historic aviation side of things!

Nice work!. You have enough to contend with the wind back there let alone a broken LCD screen. How long was the flight? Sundays trip home must have been long with that headwind.You must be hanging around Ed if you have been playing crud.

I know it's not technically the best composition, yadda yadda, but for some reason, this one just really hit me- I absolutely love it.

What an incredibly awesome opportunity, and it looks like you made the most of it. Way to go!

Hawkeye, how many of the WW1 birds are coming to the Dawn Patrol Fly-in at the US Air Force Museum in Dayton, OH in September? I heard that several would be there-

Eric- Both flights there and back took roughly 2 hours, though the trip home seemed longer because of the stop at St. Catherines for customs. Unfortunately the Nieuport didn't make it all the way home, she blew a jug taking off from St. Catherines and we had to leave it behind. And yes, Ed was definitely the instigator of the crud match.

Imritger - Thats my favourite as well

Baldeagle: From what I hear discussions are still ongoing about Dayton. The problem is, like most things, money. We're not a rich organization and Ohio is a loong trip for these airplanes. Though I hear a few people have taken it upon themselves to raise some cash to bring us down, so stay tuned, we may make it down yet.
