Wow, that ASh-82 engine on the 190 sure is a very dirty engine. Just look at that oil-stained fuselage. I rather like it, because it gives it that authentic, war-weary look!
I take it that that 190 is the French based one?

Ya, its a John Dibbs photo.
Really cool with Ferocious Frankie, flown by WIX's own Jim Beasley, Miss Velma and BBD in a R/H stacked formation. Ed shipley and Dan Friedkin are the other pilots. ASB.TV might have some pics as well.
A bit of low clouds with the sea and cliffs off in the distance. And a light house in the sea.
Really cool, really.
I'm sure it will be in a book or magazine in the near future.

If you look up Flying Legends on Youtube, there is already some good clips from the show, with thankfully a lot of it being of the 190. There has been some talk on various forums about the climb and responsiveness of the 190, and some of these videos capture this in the take off and rolls that it performed.
Some great photography thus far on Planetalk and KP's forums. I'm definitely looking forward to more videos and photographs!

You could now easily see first hand see why the allies got a nasty shock when they encountered it for the first time, if this new build Flug Werke 190 is anything to go by.

Would be interesting to see what weight / power relation the FW has to an original Fw. Given the replica has no guns, ammunition or wartime equipment (radio etc) and I presume no armour or equivalent weight, it's presumably a different beast - or is it? The only exact translation is the lift/drag and airframe shape. But even the air intakes are different.
And thinking further, it was the Fw 190's speed and manoeuvrability, at speed, which caused the initial shock - particularly as intelligence insisted at first it was 'just' a secondhand Curtiss P-36 the Mk.V Spitfire pilots were having grief with. (The P-36 was a good mover, but not, by '42-3, fast...). Airshows have
some relation to combat flying - perhaps like looking at the racehorse's form in the paddock before the real thing...
Just some thoughts.

The Flug Werke's are about 450kg lighter IIRC, so not totally representative.
It still looked a wicked little aeroplane in the air though
